American Dream
The sun shines brightly today.
It’s rays warming my skin.
Not in a hurry,
It’s tranquil.
Looking around
To find everyone
Enjoying life and
Actively helping the community.
The sounds of laughter
Fill the air
As they flow along with
The breeze.
Neighbors sharing gossip
Over their white picket fences,
Without a care in the world.
Celebrating every achievement.
Older generations sharing
Meals and life lessons
With the younger.
It’s amazing to see.
No one bogged down
With worry about their status.
Everyone uses their strengths
Where it best suits the community.
As I sit on a chair,
Something is unsettling.
A strange lamp materializes, then
I awoke.
